Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol is a copolymer of vegetable protein and silicone. It is a powerful hair-strengthening ingredient that dramatically improves the strength of damaged hair. It contains low molecular weight components that penetrate the cortex and moisturize from within and high molecular weight components that form a film on the hair shaft and lubricate and reinforce the cuticle.

Due to its dual action, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol plasticizes the hair by moisturizing from within and lubricates the outer hair surface to protect the cuticle. Combined, these properties help to strengthen the hair and reduce damage caused by chemical treatment or styling practices.

Flexabrasion studies show a conditioner with 1% Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol provides three times the strengthening performance of the conditioner alone. Its ability to strengthen hair has been demonstrated using flexabrasion. This technique allows for the evaluation of the entire aspect of hair strength: fiber extension, fiber flexure, and cuticle abrasion.

In flexabrasion studies, treatment with Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol led to an increase in hair strength in that hair fibers treated with this ingredient were shown to have a higher fatigue lifetime, meaning that the hair was more resistant to breakage. This translates into increased hair strength.
