Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate is an emollient derived from L-glutamic acid, lauric acid, and three alcohols (cholesterol, 2-octyldodecanol, and behenol). It is a multifunctional ingredient because it improves moisture permeability, water-holding capacity, antistatic properties, pigment dispersion in oils, and emulsion stability.

Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate is a petrolatum-like wax at room temperature and melts rapidly at the human body temperature (Melting Point: 36~39°C). It melts and spreads smoothly when applied to the skin, leaving a very comfortable feel.

Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate is soluble in various cosmetic oils and used in various formulations:

  • Skincare: creams, lotions, tonics, etc.
  • Hair care: shampoos, conditioners, etc.
  • Make-up: foundations, lipsticks, eye make-up, pressed powders, etc.

Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate exhibits excellent emolliency and high water holding capacity. When introduced into other cosmetic oils, it dramatically improves their water-holding capacity. It has a high capacity to absorb and retain moisture. Once absorbed, moisture is retained even at low humidity.

In addition, Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate exhibits a high moisture permeability. While retaining essential moisture in the stratum corneum, it also allows excess moisture (e.g., perspiration) to evaporate freely from the skin surface.
