Cephalins are natural phospholipids derived from cereals and used as an active ingredient in after-shave preparations such as lotions, balms, or creams.

Cephalins constitute the natural, optimal medium for physiological hemostasis in case of skin injuries. Locally applied cephalins shorten the blood coagulation time from standard-sized skin and blood vessel injuries by approximately—30 to 50%.

As natural, membrane-forming components of the intercellular lipid layers, the lipids in cephalins contribute to the rapid regeneration of those lipid layers damaged by the daily use of soaps, wetting agents, antiseptics, etc.
