Chitosan is a cationic biopolymer, a fine, off-white, odorless powder of animal or vegetal origin. Manufacturers prefer the botanical non-animal Chitosan backed up by scientific support and expertise, an equivalent to a high-quality analog of animal origin, and approved by ECOCERT.

It is a functional cationic ingredient, allowing a broad range of skin, hair, and oral care formulations. Chitosan improves the skin feel and sensory profile of the final product.

It is a natural ingredient valued for its film-forming and moisturizing properties, antimicrobial action, and odor control. Incorporated in hair care applications, Chitosan leaves conditioning, protective, and repairing effects. It enables styling without stickiness and heaviness while improving hair appearance and feel.

In skincare products, Chitosan is used in almost all types of formulations types, from gel to emulsion, where it exposes antimicrobial activity (deodorant) and protective layer formation (Film-former) with repairing and moisturizing effects. It is also used in decorative cosmetics, including mascara, lipsticks, and nail care products.

Thanks to its antimicrobial action, Chitosan is used in high-end oral care products where it reduces dental plaque formation, acts as a mucoadhesive, and fights against harmful bacteria. In antiperspirants, it also acts as an antiseptic, odor masking, and protective agent. It is an eco-responsible and natural cosmetic ingredient from renewable raw materials, which are inexhaustible, traceable, and constant vegetal quality sources.
