PEG-8 Beeswax is a golden particle, produced (ethoxylated) from beeswax, that perfectly emulsifies anti-aging formulas while contributing naturally to limiting imperceptible water loss from the skin. Widely known and recognized for its multiple cosmetic properties, beeswax can stop cutaneous water losses, which tend to increase with age, by creating a protective lipid layer on the skin's surface.

Among the more “technical benefits,” beeswax also improves spreadability and after-feel when added to the oil phase. This attractive lipophilic base with grafted hydrophilic groups provides excellent emulsifying (oil-in-water) properties, easy spreadability, rich texture, and a nice glossy appearance. In addition, it acts as a thickener, gelling agent for the oil phase, pigment disperser, and moisturizer.

Its moisturizing properties have been demonstrated and proved in live trials, including a test on skin hydration levels that compared a 6% PEG-8 Beeswax gel cream with a placebo. Used at 3 to 8% depending on the oil phase percentage, PEG-8 Beeswax is compatible with non-soluble compounds such as pigments or physical sunscreens.

Regarding sensorial presentation, PEG-8 Beeswax allows the making of shiny white products that melt on the skin and have a light but nourishing feel. Such emulsions give a high-quality base for anti-age, protective, or repairing skincare formulas. It is used in lipstick, skin and hair care products like anti-aging treatments, lotions, creams, and decorative cosmetics.
