Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate is an amino acid-based weakly acidic detergent derived from alanine and natural fatty acids. It is typically used in hair and body cleansing applications. It can be used as a foam booster when combined with other surfactants.

Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate is used in shampoo for dyed hair, preventing artificial color from being washed off too fast. It exhibits excellent foaming power and can be combined with natural and mineral oils, as well as silicones.

Like other amino acid-based surfactants, Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate is very mild and has a low sensitization profile (hypoallergenic). It produces a creamy, resilient foam that leaves a fresh feeling on the skin without a sticky after-feel.

A cell toxicity and irritation test showed that Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate Has very low cell toxicity and is exceptionally mild, even to the eyes. Its pH level is similar to that of the skin. It is also gentle on the hair and has a good conditioning and moisturizing effect.
