Squalane

Even if the name indicates an animal source (from shark, in Latin squalus), the best cosmetic Squalane is nowadays extracted from plants (unsaponifiable matter of olive oil, mainly) in respect to the availability and extraction of the substance as well as the tightened animal protection laws.

Squalane is one of the major components (10%) of human sebum, has a great affinity for human skin, possesses good skin tolerance (up to 20%), and has moisturizing and softening properties. It is also used to improve the spreading of emulsions.

Squalane prevents loss of moisture and makes the skin soft and supple. In addition, it has an anti-oxidant effect (fights free radicals) and prevents oxidative stress and premature skin aging.

Protects, rejuvenates, and hydrates the skin. It provides essential nutrients and greatly benefits the health and beauty of the skin. In addition, squalene can iron up wrinkles and fine lines.
