Ethylparaben is an ethyl ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, a commonly used personal care preservative that provides a broad performance spectrum to secure the quality and safety of your final products. It is a white, crystalline powder and has intensive growth-inhibiting effects on mold fungi, yeasts, and bacteria.

Ethylparaben and other members of the parabens family have been used extensively for many decades in personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and some categories of foodstuffs (in line with current national food additive regulations). In comparison with other classic preservatives like benzoic and sorbic acids, it retains activity in a wider range of pH and other conditions.

Ethylparaben antimicrobial activity covers practically all the microorganisms responsible for spoiling cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. It is an eco-friendly preservative that degrades rapidly under down-the-drain conditions without environmental hazard.

Used in cosmetic or pharmaceutical concentrations, Ethylparaben has a low toxicity profile and well-documented experience over decades. Colorless and odorless, this naturally accruing preservative is compatible with almost all cosmetics ingredients. It doesn't contain halogen and does not release formaldehyde.

Combined with parabens and other classic preservatives like hydantoins, phenoxyethanol exhibits increased effectiveness and potentiates their action. This is a highly effective preservative with moderately good solubility in water. It is used very often in conjunction with Propylparaben.
