Elaidoyl Tripeptide-37 is a synthetic lipo-peptide with sequence Elaidyl-KFK (Elaidyl-Lys-Phe-Lys-OH) known under the trade name Lipospondin. It is an ester of elaidic acid and Tripeptide-37 (KFK peptide), which repeats a part of the sequence of Thrombospondin.

Thrombospondins are proteins that activate TGF (transforming growth factor), boosting ECM (extracellular matrix) component production and playing an important role in angiogenesis, ECM assembly, and tissue remodeling. Tripeptide-37 stimulates TGF-β, promoting collagen and elastin production by fibroblasts.

The lipophilic part of Elaidoyl Tripeptide-37 elaidic acid inhibits and downregulates MMP-1 (including MMP-2, MMP-9, and MMP-3), metalloproteinase enzymes responsible for collagen destruction, upregulating collagen, and other structural proteins in ECM and boosting repair processes in the skin.

Incorporated in topical preparations (pharmaceutical) and skincare applications, Elaidoyl Tripeptide-37 and its analogs promote wound healing and fight against skin aging. It improves skin elasticity and suppleness, exposing a firmer, smoother, and youthful appearance.
