Oleoyl Dipeptide-15 (Glycyl glycine oleamide) is a synthetic lipopeptide that fights against skin structural proteins glycation and elastosis. It is known under the trade name Relastide®.

Protein glycation is one of the harmful processes of intrinsic chronological aging when sugars react with dermal proteins, mainly affecting collagen type 1 and elastin. Scientific in vitro studies showed that Oleoyl Dipeptide-15 reduces collagen type 1 glycation up to 60%.

Moreover, Oleoyl Dipeptide-15 inhibits MMP-12 (by 58%), a metalloproteinase enzyme responsible for elastin destruction and aging-related fragmentation of the elastic fibers. Interestingly, it was much more effective than its precursor, Dipeptide-15 (Glycyl glycine), which inhibits MMP-12 by 10% and is well-known for its anti-glycation capacity.

Furthermore, Oleoyl Dipeptide-15 restores the expression of Fibrillin-1 suppressed by glycation, promoting fibroblasts metabolism, fibril organization, and tissue retraction up to 50%.

Incorporated in skin care applications, Oleoyl Dipeptide-15 protects ECM (extracellular matrix) crucial components from degradation, disorganization, and intrinsic aging, exposing the skin's firmer, youthful, and radiant appearance.
