Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide

Functions

Hair repair

Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide is a synthetic hexapeptide derived from keratin (a part of protein amino acid sequence Arg-Ser-Phe-Ser-Ala-Cys) with a terminal Cysteine. It is identical to keratin, a primary protein of human hair, and penetrates the damaged sites of the human hair shaft, binding, strengthening, and repairing keratin fibers.

Cysteine is a thiol biosynthesized in humans and is one of the most abundant amino acids in hair keratin. In the structure of the Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide, terminal cysteine plays an important role as it can form disulfide bonds (crosslinks), participating in protein binding and increasing hair rigidity and tensile strength.

Scientific tests showed that Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide effectively binds to hair keratin up to 5 minutes after topical application. In addition, daily use of preparations containing this ingredient leaves a cumulative effect, progressively improving condition, recovering damaged sites, and strengthening hair.

With three other peptides, Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide is an integral part of the Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex® used in high-end hair care products. Those peptides exhibit a potentiating effect on hair reconstruction, boosting the effectiveness of each active ingredient in the composition.
