Polyquaternium-11 is a Quaternized copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate that forms clear, non-tacky, continuous films. Its cationic nature substantively benefits hair, providing conditioning and bodying effects with minimum build-up.

It is a slightly hazy viscous liquid. Polyquaternium-11 is a cationic, water-soluble substantive conditioner for hair and skin care products.

It also improves wet and dry combability, gloss, smoothness, and hair manageability. Polyquaternium-11 is compatible with nonionic, anionic, and amphoteric surfactants. When it is used in conditioners, hair mousses, or shampoos, it prevents the build-up of static electricity and gives the hair volume and sheen. It also provides a holding effect.

Polyquaternium-11 is used as a conditioning agent in conditioning shampoos and cream or clear rinse conditioners. Incorporated in hair care applications, it delivers instant detangling and additionally provides volume and body. In shaving foams, Polyquaternium-11 helps to stabilize the foam and, through its film-forming properties, acts as a lubricant on the skin.

Polyquaternium-11 has been toxicologically assessed for its suitability in cosmetic preparations. Based on the information at our disposal and provided that the recommended concentrations and fields of application are adhered to, there is no evidence of any toxicological risks associated with its use.
