Bourbon Geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens) is a perennial flowering plant that grows from 1 to 2 feet high. Its flowering season is from April to June. Flowers color variates from pale to rosy-purple.

Bourbon Geranium oil is and essential obtained by steam distillation from leaves, stalks, and flowers. The Bourbon indicates the origin as the Reunion Islands where the best geranium is grown.

Pelargonium Graveolens flower oil possesses properties of: antidepressant, antihemorrhagic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, cicatrizant, deodorant, diuretic, fungicidal, haemostatic, stimulant (adrenal cortex), styptic, tonic, vermifuge, vulnerary.

Historically , it has been used for conditions such as dysentery, hemorroids, inflammations, metorrhagia and menorrhagia (excessive blood loss during menstruation). In addition,  Geranium oil is used for piles and internal bleeding.

It is excellent as an injection for flooding and leucorrhoea, and taken internally for diarrhea, children's cholera, chronic dysentery; a good gargle. It blends well with ylang ylang, lavender, patchouli, clove, rose, orange, sandalwood, jasmine, juniper, bergamot and other citrus oils.
