Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate

Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate is a mixture of mono- and diesters of methyl glucose and stearic acid, a solid in the form of off-white flakes. It is a nonionic water-in-oil emulsifier with an HLB value of 6.6.

Due to a shallow eye irritation profile, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate is perfect for creams, lotions, and makeup near the eye. Human patch tests showed no irritation or sensitization for this emulsifier.

Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate provides effective emulsification and stability at low concentrations. It enhances emulsion viscosity and reduces the need for other thickeners. It strengthens and rigidifies molded sticks, reducing syneresis. It also acts as a stabilizer for multiple-phase makeup products.

Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate improves leather texture and provides a mild barrier supplement for moisture retention in cleansing applications. It is used in lotions, creams, skin conditioning mousses, and decorative cosmetics.

Combined with PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, it produces elegant oil-in-water emulsions with long-term shelf life, viscosity, and stability. Both ingredients form a potentiating pair that offers safety and performance advantages over more conventional emulsifiers when used together.
