Dihydroabietyl Behenate is a completely vegetable-derived ester formed by the reaction of Dihydroabietyl Alcohol with Behenic Acid. It is semi-solid at ambient temperatures, oil-soluble, and water-insoluble.
Dihydroabietyl Behenate is a soft amber solid at 25°C, with a saponification value of 75 – 95. It is dispersible with natural and mineral oils and volatile silicones
Dihydroabietyl Behenate Is a heavy emollient, providing a tack-free barrier with a high degree of skin substantivity. It is very hydrophobic and viscous and is useful in lipstick and lip balms, stick makeup, mascara, antiperspirant sticks, night creams, sunscreens (to increase substantivity), and pressed powders (as a binder).
Dihydroabietyl Behenate Is a very safe ingredient that has passed numerous toxicity studies. It is non-irritating to the skin and eyes, non-toxic even in oral administration, and non-comedogenic.Synonyms
