PEG-4 Rapeseedamide is an ethoxylated (4 moles of ethylene oxide) fatty acid monoethanolamide derived from rapeseed oil, a natural renewable raw material rich in unsaturated fatty acid (C18). It is a low-viscous, clear, yellow, low-odor liquid, a multifunctional surfactant for rinse-off applications.

Incorporated in cleansing products, PEG-4 Rapeseedamide is a nonionic emulsifier, foam stabilizer and booster, thickener, and solubilizer. It is frequently used in various cleansers, shampoos, liquid soap, shaving, and bath products. It is a good replacement for Cocamide DEA for diethanolamine- and nitrosamine-free products.

Thanks to ethoxylation, PEG-4 Rapeseedamide exhibits improved water solubility and provides a higher alkyl distribution of rapeseed oil compared with the Coco range. Compared with Cocamide DEA, it enhances performance properties, including thickening, emulsification, and cleansing.

With its unique skin cleansing performance, PEG-4 Rapeseedamide has advantages over alkyl poly-glucosides and alkyl betaines in specialized skin cleansing products like hand cleaners, makeup removers, and face washes. In addition, it is superior in reducing the irritation profile of ether sulfate-containing formulations.

PEG-4 Rapeseedamide is an excellent thickening agent in both alkyl ether sulfate (AES) and non-AES formulations. Incorporated into AES formulations, foam is not limited as with Cocamide DEA, and viscosity builds quickly with salt. In non-AES formulations, such as extra-mild skin cleaners, PEG-4 Rapeseedamide is superior to nonionic polymeric thickeners, such as PEG-150 Distearate or PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate, through ease of use and non-tacky skin feel.

In other applications, PEG-4 Rapeseedamide is an effective emulsifier in oil-in-water systems such as silicones and paraffinic oils, with an HLB of 11. Used with Bentonite clay, it is a very effective suspending and stabilizing agent for high bulk density dispersions.
