Pentaerythrityl Tetrabehenate is an ester with a high melting point (80°C) that notably thickens personal care formulas. Its "cage structure" lets it trap colored pigments and, therefore, is used in decorative cosmetics. It is known under the trade name DUB PTB.

Sustaining properties in cosmetic products have been evaluated thanks to a 15-person sensory evaluation panel that compared a formula with 5% Pentaerythrityl Tetrabehenate, a negative-testing formula, and a positive-testing formula containing Cyclomethicone. The test results highlight the excellent coverage properties, homogeneity, and global sustainment 7 hours after application to the skin.

Incorporated in personal care and cosmetic applications, Pentaerythrityl Tetrabehenate acts as a thickener, viscosity regulator, and mattifying agent, additionally providing exceptional and long-lasting coverage. Thanks to its stick and cooling properties, it is used in makeup foundations, lipsticks, and eyeshadow powders. It is used in some skin care applications and balms as a thickener.
