Stearyl Phosphate is a biodegradable organic phosphate monoester. It is an off-white waxy flake (with a melting point of 73°C) derived from a long-chain aliphatic alcohol.

As supplied in the free acid form, Stearyl Phosphate is soluble in various organic solvents but not in water. Water solubility can be enhanced with increasing neutralization (pH), particularly at elevated temperatures (the acid form is oil-soluble; neutralized salts are water-soluble).

Stearyl Phosphate is used as a primary emulsifier, solubilizer, lubricant, softener, and anti-stat in cosmetic and personal care products. It enables neutral pH formulations to be non-irritating to the skin.

Stearyl Phosphate exhibits excellent lubricity and slip, acts as a solubilizer for sunscreen additives, and delivers excellent emulsification performance at normal skin pH, providing conditioning and antistatic properties on hair and skin.

Stearyl phosphate is an excellent ingredient in various applications, including creams and lotions, hair care products such as relaxers, waves, perms, hair conditioners, styling aids, hairsprays, and various other personal care products.
