Acetyl Hexapeptide-38 is a synthetic peptide (with sequence Ac-Ser-Val-Val-Val-Arg-Thr-NH2) found with screening methods and using the reporter gene assay from millions of other hexapeptides with different sequences. It is also known by the trade-name Adifyline®.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-38 raises the expression of PGC-1α (Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α) by 61.1%, which plays an essential role in cellular energy metabolism and increases the capability of lipid storage by healthy mature adipocytes (fatty cells) in the white adipose tissue. In addition, it increases adipocyte differentiation from subcutaneous preadipocytes enhancing lipid accumulation.

The ability to increase fatty tissue volume beneath the skin in specific local areas makes Acetyl Hexapeptide-38 a perfect ingredient for skin and body care applications which can reshape and remodel problematic sites including facial oval, breasts, or buttocks. It smooths expression lines and wrinkles by increasing the volume of the skin, exposing a lifted, supple, and youthful appearance.

In body care preparations, it improves the volume of specific areas like breasts or buttocks where a replenishing effect is desired, delivering attractive body curves. Acetyl Hexapeptide-38 is used in facial redefining preparations, breast-firming formulations, facial anti-aging products, makeup for mature women, lip care products and makeup, and specific formulations for the cleavage area (mature women). In addition, it can be found in anti-aging products for hands, which lose adipose tissue with age.
