Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-34

Collagen is one of the main components of the ECM (extracellular matrix) of the skin connective tissue and its concentration decreases with aging. The loss of collagen has two reasons reduction of the production and increased degradation.

MMP-1 is one of the enzymes responsible for collagen (type I, III, VII, VIII) degradation and inhibition of new collagen synthesis in the skin. Systematic UV exposure upregulates different MMPs speeds up photoaging and increases collagen deficiency. This breaks down the balance of production and degradation in ECM.

Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-34 is an antiaging tetrapeptide, that has been developed to maximally and effectively inhibit these matrix-degrading MMPs and to recover collagen quantities back to normal levels.

In vitro tests showed that preparation containing small amounts of Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-34 significantly decreased the expression of genes and production of MMP-1 under both UV-stimulated and non-stimulated conditions and noticeably recovered collagen levels.

In addition, Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-34 considerably lowered the MMP levels that have been produced by ROS or RNS influence. Yet, in vivo clinical study results prove that this peptide is surely one of the most promising anti-aging ingredients on the market.
