MDI Complex™

The MDI Complex™ is a natural matrix metalloprotease inhibitor. It contains glycosaminoglycans and can help to control the appearance of signs of aging and maintain youthful-looking skin. Furthermore, inhibiting metalloprotease can help to maintain the integrity of tiny blood vessels in the skin, thereby reducing the risk of red patches or dark circles around the eyes.

The skin is formed of a tridimensional structure called the extracellular matrix, composed of molecules like collagen, elastin, proteoglycans, fibronectin, and other glycoproteins. Degradation of the extracellular matrix plays an essential role in the aging process. It leads to a gradual decrease in dermal thickness, the amount of collagen, and protein organization, all of which are essential for youthful-looking skin. In addition, destructive enzymes like metalloproteinases have a negative impact on skin firmness and elasticity and the integrity of the extracellular matrix.

The MMP activity becomes excessive during aging and after UV exposure. This will result in a loss of the integrity of the extracellular matrix decreasing its structural and biological functions. Ultimately, matrix alteration will be responsible for the appearance of cosmetic concerns.
