sh-Pentapeptide-1 (former INCI name: Pentapeptide-1) is a synthetic recombinant peptide derived from thymopoietin, a human hormone with immunomodulating properties. Its sequence Arg-Lys-Asp-Val-Tyr corresponds to the active part of the protein 32-36 range of amino acids chain.
Known under the trade name Sintomodulina, sh-Pentapeptide-1 is used for the topical treatment of atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and chronic skin infections. Incorporated in skin care preparations, it showed promising results for sensitive skin and effectively fights against irritations.
