Bioflavonoids have been used to maintain normal blood vessel conditions by decreasing capillary fragility (homeostatic). This fragility may result in the appearance of fine red lines in the skin, particularly around the nose.
Early interest in the compounds developed because of their synergistic effect with ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Bioflavonoids are used in skin toners, creams, lotions and conditioning make-up to promote clear, toned, healthy skin.
This ingredient may also be used in scalp conditioners for fuller, healthier-looking hair. It is recommended that ascorbic acid be used in a finished product in a synergistic way.
