Pomegranate extract

Originally Pomegranate tree (Punica Granatum) spread through Asia, the Armenian highlands, and the Mediterranean regions. Today, farmers cultivate it worldwide in all tropical and subtropical zones. Wild trees grow up to 5 meters; cultivated trees reach a height of 1 meter maximum. Flowering is from June to September and the fruits are harvested from September to December.

Pomegranate is a fruit that can be used in many different applications. It has long been well regarded for its edible purposes and has recently been discovered as a highly recognized raw material in personal care and health care.

Punica granatum fruits have the shape of an apple with a kind of chalice crown. Pomegranate fruits contain many small kernels and the color of the pulp is pale-yellow to deep red. Pomegranate is not only an imposing and sensually appearing fruit, but also a source of valuable active ingredients like Vitamin C, numerous polyphenols, and flavonoids.

Studies have shown that Pomegranate fruit extract has a high level of antioxidants, containing phytoestrogens, punicic, and linolenic acids, all of which prevent the breakdown of collagen fibers. Along with stimulating collagen, Punica granatum fruit extract speeds up dermal cell turnover and slightly thickens and strengthens the skin.

Punica granatum fruit extract can improve wound healing and promote younger-looking skin. In addition, it protects from sun damage, and recent studies show that when applied topically, it reduces the risk of cancer.
