Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) was used by the ancient Egyptians as an embalming agent, by the Romans as a skin freshener, and by the Greeks as incense at their altars.

Thymus Vulgaris contains thymol, a powerful antiseptic for both internal and external use. It has been used to treat sore throats, coughs, respiratory and gastric complaints, rheumatism, gout, general fatigue, and dermatitis.

Thymus vulgaris has also been used to aid digestion and stimulate the appetite, as a deodorant, and as a local anesthetic.

Thyme herbal tinctures are said to destroy head lice. Its use in ointments has been effective in soothing insect bites and burns, as well as skin irritations such as eczema and psoriasis.

Thymus Vulgaris Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic pleasant odor. Thyme extract is used in skin care products, first-aid ointments, deodorants, and bath care products.
