Derived from the French word "pensee," meaning "thought," the pansy's three colors (purple, white, and yellow) represent memories, loving thoughts, and souvenirs, all of which were said to ease the hearts of separated lovers.

The medicinal qualities of the Pansy (Viola Tricolor) have been known since the Middle Ages when it was used as a purifying tea to benefit the heart, purify the blood, and reduce fevers.

The powdered leaves were made into infusions to treat skin eruptions, asthma, and urinary problems. Recently, Viola Tricolor Extract has been used in the form of an ointment and in poultices to treat eczema and other skin problems.

Viola Tricolor Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor. It is used in skin creams, lotions, toners, gels, and other skin treatment products.
