PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate

PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate is a high-performance, efficient thickener at low concentrations, even for hard-to-thicken systems (like sarcosinates in aqueous surfactant systems). This polymer is a proven counter-irritant that reduces the irritation potential of surfactants, even with mild variations.

Thanks to its extraordinary thickening property, PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate is more effective than PEG-150 Distearate or PEF-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate. It is also one of the most efficient thickeners available because it can thicken better, even when used at levels of 40% below what is typical for these conventional thickeners.

PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate is is recommended as a thickener for clear systems (including clear shampoos) and hard-to-thicken systems (even iodine-based pet shampoos). Surfactant solutions like those containing sodium lauroyl sarcosinate tend to yield low-viscosity systems but can be thickened with PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate. In fact, it has been cited in the literature for its thickening effects in a clear, acid-balanced shampoo (pH 5.7) containing sodium lauroyl sarcosinate.

PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate provides a pleasant residual feel, tolerates electrolytes and salt, and does not need neutralization. It is used in bath and body washes, shampoos, liquid soaps, and gels. Use concentration is in the 0.5-2% range. It has Japanese approval.
