Polyquaternium-16 is a quaternary compound, a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone (VP) and quaternized vinylimidazole (QVI). Its 40% solution in water is a clear, yellow, viscous liquid.
Polyquaternium-16 is used in a variety of hair care formulations, including conditioners, mousses, and shampoos. It provides excellent conditioning action on the hair, giving it a good shine and outstanding wet combability. It is compatible with anionic detergents and can be used in conditioning shampoo formulations.
