PPG-10 Butanediol is a propoxylated linear alkyl diol, a clear, water-white liquid. It is soluble in water, SD Alcohol 40B, Butylene Glycol, Isopropyl Myristate, Benzyl Laurate, and some natural oils. Dispersible in Cyclomethicone, Mineral Oil, and Jojoba Oil. Insoluble in Glycerin and Dimethicone.
Thanks to its non-greasy feel and unusual solubility, PPG-10 Butanediol provides emollience benefits in skin care applications such as creams, lotions, sunscreen oils, shave products, and AP/DO gels, sticks, or roll-ons.
PPG-10 Butanediol is an excellent solvent for sunscreen actives, including Benzophenone-3 (Uvinul ® M 40). Due to its low viscosity at low temperatures, it can also act as a crystal growth inhibitor.
