High-purity, low-odor grade polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) designed for skincare applications. PVP is a film former and thickener polymer. It is a white powder that is soluble in water, ethanol, isopropanol, and many organic solvents.

PVP acts as a viscosity modifier for aqueous systems and is compatible with virtually all cosmetic ingredients. It also stabilizes emulsions, dispersions, and suspensions. Polyvinylpyrrolidone exhibits detoxifying effects via complex formation with toxins.

It is compatible with almost all anionics, cationics, and other non-ionic cosmetic polymers. PVP is ideal for use in water-based applications where a high degree of clarity is required in the finished products (e.g. gels). Its main application is hair styling, particularly wetlook gels, hair mousses, pump sprays, and liquid hair setting preparations providing a strong hold and high viscosity.

Physiologically inert ingredient, polyvinylpyrrolidone is perfect for applications containing concentrated alpha-hydroxy acids. It is an emollient and humectant for skin creams, emulsion stabilizer, and rheology modifier in creams and lotions with an excellent safety profile. PVP is also used in decorative cosmetics as a pigment dispersant. It is typically used at 1-10%.
