Steareth-20 is an ethoxylated stearyl alcohol with 20 moles of ethylene oxide, a waxy solid with a mild, characteristic odor (virtually odorless). It is a nonionic emulsifier for cosmetic oil-in-water and partially also for water-in-oil emulsions, with an HLB value of 15.3.
Steareth-20 is suitable for skincare creams and lotions, deodorants, and antiperspirants. It is usually used with other emulsifiers and nonionic surfactants, as well as with most anionic, cationic, and ester surfactants. It is a fully biodegradable ingredient.
Based on vegetable raw materials, Steareth-20 provides stable emulsions over a wide pH range, emulsifying oils and fats in highly acidic or alkaline media. In addition, it can be used in combination with consistency-providing substances to form viscosity-enhancing gel structures in the external water phase.
