Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone is a white, waxy, solid, water-soluble silicone wax designed to boost foam and soften in personal care formulations. It provides a significant foam boost in shampoo and body wash formulations.
Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone imparts light conditioning to hair and gives a light and soft skin feel. In addition, it de-tackifies styling resins in hair-setting applications.
Being water soluble, Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone is easily included in water-based formulations like shampoos and shower creams. Addition levels in this type of formulation would usually be between 0.5% & 2.0%. Adding 0.5% to a body wash product would improve foam density and stability, with increased addition levels giving more noticeable skin changes feel and softness.
Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone provides foam stability, density, and texture in surfactant-based cleansing products. It also gives noticeable softness during the washing process on both skin and hair.In resin-based formulations, Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone reduces stickiness and improves rinsability. It is used in shampoo, body wash, and hair styling products.
Bis-PEG-20 Dimethicone is basically non-hazardous and has a very low order of toxicity, although prolonged contact with the skin or contact with the eyes may cause some irritation.
