Retinyl Acetate is a vitamin A ester with acetic acid, an active ingredient for skin and oral care applications. It is an oily yellow liquid at room temperature (it may contain some crystals of vitamin A acetate) with a mild odor. This ester is a stable form and a great source of vitamin A, which breaks down into an active form thanks to enzymes in the skin or other tissues.

After the decomposition of Retinyl Acetate, the active form promotes dermal cell proliferation and growth while stimulating cellular metabolism and various enzyme activity. It normalizes many processes in the skin and exhibits noticeable anti-aging action, which is especially effective for photoaged or UV-damaged skin.

Retinyl Acetate is usually combined with mitigating or encapsulating ingredients to reduce the irritation potential typical to retinoids. Vitamin complexes with cyclodextrins, liposomes, and other carriers protect vitamin A ester from decomposition in a jar, enable controlled release, and noticeably decrease irritation and other adverse effects.
