1-Methylhydantoin-2-Imide, also called Creatinine (former designation: 2-imino-N-methylhydantoine), is a byproduct of muscle metabolism that occurs in the human body. It is a natural amino acid derivative and performs important biological functions.

Creatinine dissolves in water and other polar solvents very quickly and can be added coldly into formulations. 1-Methylhydantoin-2-Imide is a conditioner that can be used for manufacturing special cosmetics that lighten the skin.

Besides its lightening effect on color pigments, Creatinine also gives skin a brighter and more uniform appearance, making it ideal for use in skin conditioners. It is also helpful in age spot-fading creams. Its recommended concentration is between 0.5 and 1.0 percent.
