Hydroxylated Milk Glycerides is a derivative of the milk lipid fraction, a multifunctional ingredient derived from natural raw materials for personal care applications. It acts as an emollient, moisturizer, and pigment dispersant.

Many moisturizers used in personal care products bring with them the unwanted attribute of leaving behind a heavy feeling on the skin. Even in products like lipsticks and lip balms, consumers want moisturization without the heavy feeling generally associated with these products. Hydroxylated Milk Glycerides provides adequate moisturization (like petrolatum) without being heavy. Moreover, combined with petrolatum and other mineral oils, it dramatically improves the spreading coefficient even at a 10% concentration.

A little Hydroxylated Milk Glycerides go a long way in dispersing pigments. In formulating pigmented products, two key points of performance are wet and flow points. The wet point gives an indication of wetting efficiency and pigment dispersion uniformity; the lower the wet point, the less oil is necessary to “wet” out the pigment.

Hydroxylated Milk Glycerides possesses surface activity properties and reduces interfacial tension, most commonly referred to as water-in-oil co-emulsification. In multiphase products, it promotes stability and long shelf life.
