Pearlizing agent

Pearling agents (or Pearlisers) are additives that confer opacity and "pearling" effects on shampoos and bath products. These ingredients produce stable, iridescent pearls in shampoos, improving the attraction of the final product.

Some modern pearling agents can be added to the formula without heat and are more cost-effective than traditional pearlisers because they can be used in cold process systems.

Glycol Distearate is a diester of stearic acid with ethylene glycol, a waxy solid used as an emulsifier (HLB value of ~ 5.5), emulsion stabilizer, and opacifier.

Glycol Stearate is an ethylene glycol monostearate or EGMS, an ester of ethylene glycol with stearic fatty acid.
