Many consumers want not only their facial skin to look young and firm but their entire bodies as well. Aescin (also called escin) is the ingredient for use in a variety of functional body-firming, body-shaping, and other anti-aging products. The ingredient is nearly 100% pure aescin obtained from the seeds of horse chestnut, a plant that was once native to Asia and northern Greece but is now also cultivated in Europe and North America.

The extract increases tissue microcirculation and membrane elasticity and also decreases the permeability of the vein walls. It has additional soothing and anti-oxidative properties.
