Cocamide MEA is a non-ionic vegetable-derived amide that provides excellent viscosity building and foam stabilization in anionic-based systems such as shampoos, hand washes, and body cleansers. It is a tan granular solid with a setting point of about 61-65°C and a pH of 10% m/m aqueous solution 9.3-10.5.
Monoethanolamides' reduced water solubility and melting point effectively control the dissolution rate in systems such as toilet bowl blocks, synthetic soap bars, and various tablet formulations. Cocamide MEA delivers optimum performance with anionic surfactants at a 5-10% activity ratio.
Cocamide MEA adds opacity, thickening, and foam boosting. It also provides foam stabilization and mildness and can build viscosities from thin liquids (100cPs) to thick gels (50000cPs). In combination with sodium chloride, it can provide better viscosity enhancement.
Monoethanolamides enhance foam stability and viscosity response at low electrolyte levels. Cocamide MEA is DEA-free, cost-effective, and a flash-foaming ingredient typically used at 1-10% concentration.
