Diethylhexyl Carbonate is a diester of ethylhexyl alcohol and carbonic acid. It is an emollient for cosmetics and personal care formulations that provides a light and silky skin feel. It is an oily ingredient with low viscosity used to manufacture light, non-greasy skin care and sun protection products.
Diethylhexyl Carbonate is suitable for the formulation of both water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions. Its very high spreadability and good dissolving capacity for crystalline substances make it a unique emollient that is particularly useful for sun protection.
Thanks to its extremely low pour point, Diethylhexyl Carbonate positively affects the low-temperature stability of water-in-oil emulsions.
