Diisopropyl Adipate is a diester of isopropyl alcohol with adipic acid, a clear, colorless, odorless liquid. It is a multifunctional, light, non-occlusive, and non-oily emollient.

Thanks to its low viscosity, Diisopropyl Adipate enables fast spreading and rapid adsorption with minimal residue on the skin surface. It is soluble in alcohols, glycols, ketones, esters, aromatic, aliphatic, chlorinated solvents, mineral and vegetable oils. Insoluble in water, ethylene glycol, and glycerol.

Diisopropyl Adipate is used in hydro-alcoholic cosmetic preparations (creams, lotions, bath oils, lip balms, antiperspirants, and men’s grooming aids) with excellent compatibility with other ingredients used in personal care products. It can also function as a coupling agent and solubilizer for lipophilic media.

In san care formulations, Diisopropyl Adipate provides lubrication with mild drying and a soft after-feel on the skin. Due to its sensory profile, it is used in bath oils, lipsticks, and other decorative cosmetics combined with batters, natural and mineral oils, and esters.
