The anomalous accumulation of melanin and constant daily exposure to ultraviolet radiation are responsible for changes in skin pigmentation, that is, aging spots, melasma, freckles, and senile lentigines. Many of the bleaching and depigmenting agents used to treat this undesirable aesthetic problem irritate the skin and are unstable.

Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate known under the trade name Chromabright™ is a safe, stable, and effective ingredient that lightens skin blemishes, and protects the skin from damage caused by ultraviolet radiation.

Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate exhibits a greater depigmenting efficacy than other bleaching agents such as arbutin, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, and kojic acid, and has similar efficacy to hydroquinone at the same concentration, but without cytotoxic effect.

Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate leaves a photoprotective effect on human keratinocytes, demonstrating its ability to help prevent cellular damage induced by UV radiation. The photoprotective ability of this ingredient was proven through in vitro tests. It is equally effective for skin of all races and both sexes.

Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate can be incorporated into creams and emulsions. It is oil-soluble and compatible with formulations containing oil or silicone.
