Isocetyl Behenate is a low-viscosity, stable, vegetable-derived liquid ester. It is a clear yellow liquid at 25°C without odor and taste. It is miscible with natural and mineral oils and silicones; and insoluble in water, ethanol, and propylene glycol.

Isocetyl Behenate is an excellent emollient with good skin permeation and spreadability. It exhibits broad solubility in oils and silicones and is useful as a melting point modifier in lipsticks and decorative cosmetics.

Imparting emolliency, Isocetyl Behenate provides sheen to lipsticks and is suitable for anhydrous skin products or emulsion systems.

Isocetyl Behenate is a safe ingredient for skin, eye, and lip care products and mascara. It is non-irritating to skin and eyes, orally non-toxic, and non-comedogenic. 2 – 5% use levels are indicated in skin products, and 5 – 10% in lipstick and lip products.
