Levulinic acid is a penetration enhancer, emulsion stabilizer, and natural preservative derived from rice, corn starch, or sugarcane bagasse. It increases the lipid fluidity of the dermal barrier, helping other ingredients pass through and improving the entire effectiveness of the formula.

Thanks to antibacterial and bacteriostatic properties, Levulinic acid and its salt Sodium levulinate are used as a preservative and skin conditioning agent.
