Methyl Ricinoleate is an ester derived from castor oil and methanol used in personal care applications as a surfactant or lubricant. It is derived from natural raw materials and is completely biodegradable.

Methyl Ricinoleate is a clear bright liquid with low viscosity. In low temperatures, it can form small crystals that re-dissolve on warming. It is soluble in most organic solvents such as mineral spirits, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, glycol ethers, butyl acetate, ethyl alcohol etc.; and insoluble in water.

It is used as a highly effective detergent in industrial personal care applications for the removal of carbon-containing or oily dirt.
