Octyldodecyl Erucate is an oil-soluble, liquid ester. It is wholly vegetable-derived. A long carbon chain length ester (42 carbon atoms) is surprisingly shallow in viscosity and has excellent shelf-life and clarity at low temperatures.

Octyldodecyl Erucate readily absorbs into the skin, leaving a silky-smooth, non-greasy, and dry after-feel. It is used in creams and lotions, lipsticks, decorative cosmetics, nail cuticle treatments, shave and after-shave applications, antiperspirant sticks, and splash-on products.

Toxicity studies have shown that Octyldodecyl Erucate is remarkably safe, non-irritating to skin and eyes, orally non-toxic, and non-comedogenic.
