Androgenetic alopecia mainly affects men after puberty, a period in which androgens begin to interact with androgen-sensitive hair follicles, resulting in changes such as follicular miniaturization and changes in the hair growth cycle, leading to progressive thinning and permanent hair loss.

The enzyme responsible for the miniaturization of the dermal papilla in hair follicles, shortening the growth phase and reducing the volume of the cellular matrix of the follicles is the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is known that several factors such as genetic susceptibility, the amount of ceramides present in the bulb, the balance of microflora, and mainly hormonal factors, can interfere with the normal life cycle of hair, deregulating the entire process and accelerating the arrival of strands in the phase telogen, interfering with their quantity and quality.

The ideal prevention for hair loss and improvement in hair quality lies in the synergy between scalp health and the balance of the hair life cycle. Therefore, having a healthy scalp is a prerequisite for good hair appearance.

Sphinganine is a sphingolipid obtained through a sustainable biotechnological process, with direct action in inhibiting the enzyme 5-α-reductase, significantly reducing the levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the hair follicle. Therefore, it prevents hair loss and promotes hair growth, by rebalancing the hair life cycle, keeping it in its anagen phase for longer. Providing a better structure for hair growth improves the quality and appearance of hair strands.

Its benefits of topical use compared to Finasteride without its characteristic side effects. Furthermore, due to its anti-microbial action, Sphinganine reduces Malassezia furfur with great effectiveness, reduces scalp oiliness, and prevents dandruff appearance. It also rebalances the microflora, providing an improvement in the health of the scalp.
