Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-20 is a biomimetic lipo-peptide with sequence Pal-His-Phe-Arg-Trp-NH2 that mimics α-MSH (alpha Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone) by binding the MC1-R (melanocortin 1 receptor) and stimulating melanin production. It is known under the trade name Greyverse™.

Incorporated in hair care applications, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-20 speeds up melanosome maturation in follicular melanocytes and their transfer to keratinocytes, preventing and reversing (re-pigmentation) hair greying. It intensively recovers natural hair color in relatively higher concentrations, which can be supported with preventive applications containing lower concentrations.

In addition, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-20 enhances the expression of catalase, an antioxidant enzyme responsible for intracellular oxygen peroxide destruction. It lessens intracellular H2O2 by up to 30%, preventing oxidative stress and cell damage.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-20 is an effective, safe, and scalp-friendly ingredient for hair,  beard, and mustache care applications. It is an ideal alternative to chemical coloring that progressively retrieves natural hair color, exposing youthful hair appearance.
