In the early part of the 19th century, the young tops of Borage (Borago Officinalis) were sometimes boiled as a pot- herb and were consumed as a refreshing summer drink. Considered diuretic, demulcent, and emollient, Borago Officinalis has been used in France for fevers and pulmonary complaints.

Borago Officinalis's saline constituents are said to promote kidney activity. It is also used to relieve fever caused by colds or flu.

Borago Officinalis Extract was considered valuable for relieving eye inflammation. The juice in a syrupy mixture was used as a remedy for jaundice, itch, and ringworm.

Borago Officinalis Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor. It is used in skin fresheners, cleansers, creams, lotions, moisturizers, skin treatment products, and eye care products.
