In mythology, Parsley (Carum Petroselinum) was believed to have originated from the blood of Archemorus, the forerunner of death.
In ancient Greece, Carum Petroselinum was given to winning athletes because the Greeks believed that the god Hercules had chosen the herb for his garlands. The greens were also fashioned into wreaths for athletic horses to give them stamina.
This herb has been used to treat kidney and liver disorders, asthma, jaundice, cough, indigestion, gallstones, menstrual difficulties, psoriasis, and eczema. A poultice of the leaves was used as a remedy for insect bites and stings and was said to be the key to a good complexion. Infusions of parsley leaves and stems are said to be soothing and cleansing when added to bath water.
Carum Petroselinum Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor. Parsley extract is used in soaps, cleansers, creams, lotions, shampoos, and bath products. It can also be used as a fragrance component in perfumes and colognes.
