Historically, coneflower (Echinacea Purpurea) was used in eyewashes and as a soothing agent for skin afflictions such as boils and irritations from insect bites and poisonous plants. It was said to have blood-purifying qualities and, therefore, was used on eczema, acne, and boils thought to be contaminated by blood.

Today, Echinacea Purpurea preparations are used as antiseptics, to make skin smoother, and to increase the body's resistance to infection.

Echinacea Purpurea Leaf/Root Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor that is soluble in any proportion in water. It is used in toners, astringents, lotions, creams, moisturizers, and beauty-enhancing products designed for their antiseptic and soothing qualities. It can also be used in deodorants, shampoos, conditioners, and bath care products.
